Joe Camilleri - A Life in Music

The Black Sorrows continue to be one of Australia's most successful touring bands and 2014 was a very busy year. After 2 powerful performances at Bluesfest in Byron over Easter, the band flew to Norway to play at the legendary Rockerfeller Music Hall in Oslo and then by special invitation at the Nidaros Blues Festival in Trondheim. Scandinavia embraced Joe and The Black Sorrows in the late eighties/early nineties, where their albums, Hold On To Me and Harley & Rose were Top Ten hits.

Any examination of The Black Sorrows inevitably comes down to one person. Joe Camilleri (singer, songwriter, saxophonist, producer and the brains behind The Black Sorrows) is one of the most genuinely talented figures in Australian music. This year with 45 albums under his belt, Joe will celebrate 50 years in the music business and is showing no signs of slowing down. In the award-winning documentary of his life in music, Joe Camilleri: Australia's Maltese Falcon, Jane Clifton described Joe as "indefatigable." It is his seemingly tireless drive to continually perform and record quality music that has rewarded him legendary status and well-deserved longevity in the music industry.

The Black Sorrows in concert at the Copping Community Hall.....SOLD OUT!!

“Joe never fails to deliver, and produces one of the most powerful shows in the country. Joe’s passion for music and his genuine love of his fans make him the best in the business. Up and coming artists wanting longevity should take a leaf out of Joe’s book.”

“Camilleri is an Aussie rock legend and one of this nation’s finest performers, the epitome of a hardworking entertainer who knows how to connect with his audience.”

“Camilleri is joined on stage by such a wealth of talent….everything comes together in what makes a complete experience and it appears the crowd feels the same. There’s less of the polite applause and more of the real appreciation, more open-mouthed wonder.”
