Harry Manx has been called an “essential link” between the music of East and West, creating musical short stories that wed the tradition of the Blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas. He has created a completely unique sound that is deliciously addictive to listen to. Born on Isle of Man, Manx spent his childhood in Canada and left in his teens to live in Europe, Japan, India and Brazil. He honed his hypnotic live show on street corners, in cafes, bars and at festivals. But it was Indian music that captured Manx and in the mid 80's he began a five-year tutelage with Rajasthani Indian musician Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Grammy winner with Ry Cooder for "A Meeting by the River"). He also received the gift of Bhatt’s custom-made, self-designed mohan veena - a 20-stringed sitar/guitar - that was the catalyst for Harry to forge a new path with his now signature east-meets-west style of music. Playing the mohan veena, lap steel, harmonica and banjo, Manx quickly envelops the audience into what has been dubbed “the Harry Zone” with his warm vocals and the hauntingly beautiful melodies of his original songs. Harry is a prolific artist and has released nine albums since his first outing, Dog My Cat, in 2001. His latest CD. "Bread and Buddha" is a timely mediation on the ephemeral nature of the human experience. The album, two years in the making, employs full, lush instrumentation - an eclectic mix of blues, folk and world music.

"For sheer musical adventure, few compare with Manx"......Bruce Elder, Sydney Morning Herald.

"I've discovered something new tonight, seeing Harry play".....Bruce Springsteen.

Some comments - Bill Chambers (with Coyote Serenade) concert - Copping Community Hall - 12 September 2009

"good food, wine and company, but most of all fantastic entertainment."

"great atmosphere and acoustics."

"really loved it, would not change a thing - we''ll be back again!"

"once again your musical picks didn't let us down."

"the ambience of the old hall makes for a personal, intimate concert that pubs and larger venues just cannot come near"

"I really appreciate going to a gig that is relaxed but offers great talent and you have achieved this twice."

"the support band were sooo good and Bill just blended into the whole scene and atmosphere."

"it was a fantastic show - at times I felt I was at the Grand Ole Opry!"

"we all loved it - you have the ambience, the seating and the way it is being run just right."
"having Bill was masterful, a real Australian muso who has that great dry sense of humour that only we can achieve."
"the great thing about your promotions is that it has attracted people who are interested in the music and are happy to socialise before and after rather than whilst the music is on."
"what more can I say, you've done it again - great venue, great show, well organised - we will be back for more."

Bill Chambers new album "Drifting South"

Bill Chambers 3rd album ‘Drifting South’ flows like a lazy old river through the ancient hills of time. From the Celtic mood of ‘Diesel and Driftwood’, salty tales from the Southern Ocean and the Johnny Cash inspired ‘Tasmania’, this album leaves no doubt Bill has lived the songs he’s singing.
With a growling voice that owes a substantial debt to both Bob Dylan and John Prine, his live shows are flavoured with delicate picking on Dobro or Mandolin then he’ll rock like a demon on Lap Steel or Slide Guitar.
Father of Kasey Chambers Bill says ‘I still play in Kasey's band when she tours but lately I’ve been exploring my roots and thinking about the tiny fishing village where I was born and raised in southern South Australia. These songs reflect my childhood and family, while the music is an extension of various styles, Folk, Country and Rock that I’ve listened to all my life’.
Kim Cheshire from Country Update described the albums tone as ‘Windswept and sun bleached while the tempos chug along like an old fishing boat…….Truth is there’s not a bad song or performance here and Chambers voice is like the effect of salty water on wood, it only gets more appealing the more it gets worn down, weathered and tossed by the tides’.

Bill Chambers : There's much more to Bill Chambers than just being Kasey's dad and playing in her band. The patriarch of the Chambers clan is considered by some to be Australia's premier alt-country guitarist. He is entirely self taught and can be a master of delicate picking on dobro or lap steel and a demon on slide. The early years he spent roughing it in the outback with his family, have helped to give him his distinctive sound. Bill writes most of the songs for his albums and his first album, Sleeping With the Blues, was nominated for an Aria.
For those who attended the KaneWelchKaplin concert, Bill has played and collaborated with them over the years.

Coyote Serenade is made up of four local multi-instrumentalists who bring you swinging harmonies, powerful picking and laid- back rhythms. They draw their material from the easy going early years of cowboy and cowgirl country, blues, swing and hillbilly as well as adding a few originals to the mix and songs from contemporary alternative performers of today ..... not to mention boots, hats, frocks and fine jewellery!
